The Final Image
June 5th, 2009

The setbuild is finally over – and the first year as well!
Our production week went really well and we managed to do everything in time even though we had to cut our production time by 20% because our Robin could only be in Rochester on Thursday. Beacause we new this and worked like crazy in advance we got it all done by Thursday.
We all enjoyed the production week and did really well!
Here are some pics from the production week. A big thanks to Batman and Robin for dressing up in tights for us. You did a great job guys!

Team 2
So on friday it was the final day of the Sweeney Todd set and despite what everyone had told us about how we’d want to rip it all down, we were quite heartbroken at the thought of the week ending. Thursday was a successful lighting day and we just spent friday morning tweaking lights and finishing off the set.ÂÂ
Here’s how the day rolled out in pictures.

Alex kicked off the morning contemplating…”more lights? Yes I think another light!”

After the tweaking was over our lovely model Jess arrived and we dressed her in our beautiful £1 polish dress. I got to work on the make up and Kamilla did the hair and Jess transformed into the perfect model…

Ta-Daaah!

We then made the final touches before shooting by getting Jess in position. I was clearly having a delirious moment by thinking our plastic wrapped it a blanket was a real baby.ÂÂ
ÂÂ

The dress needed to be poofed out to the max so we grabbed all the painting sheets and plastic we could find and made the dress more meringue-like.ÂÂ
We then began shooting which rather sadly only took half an hour which seems so strange when you’ve laboured over the set for 4 days. We took endless amounts of images but we’re leaving out any photographs which give what the final photograph looks like to add to the suspense for Friday…
After our shooting was done we decided the week wouldn’t feel complete if we didn’t all have a go at modeling…

Byron looking simply divine in pink

Chris couldn’t help but get involved. I think he loved wearing that dress a little more than he let on
The whole week was really successful and we worked amazingly well as a team. No arguments, no stress, no fuss… just fun and laughter all the way. Thank you to Alex and everyone else who helped us out along the way. It was an awesome week!ÂÂ

This was such a messy day!! We had blood and glitter every where.. It was really good fun paining someone up to look dead though. Holly took charge with that, which she was rele awesome at, and tess and I did the costume. We used a lot of pins, the skirt actually was just a bit of blue fabric which tess had  sewn in some  roushes to give it some shape. It took such a long time to get our model ready, but it was well worth it in the end i think. Here’s a sneaky peek at our shots. There all a bit small but i took them quicky off my phone, so i apologise if there not so good.

Aha! these were the pictures that solved our problems! we were spilt as to what colour our shirt should be. In our chosen still it had a faint blue tint to it, so we couldn’t decide on what colour fabrics to buy. We spent a good while trying to make a descision, so I figured  we should just look at the previous scenes from our film to see what it actually was. Then we could just take it from then on. This is just a quick snap shot thought i might as well put them up.

Today was planned for sorting out the lights for our set, all coming in, in the morning thinking that we would only be needing three lights, but how wrong where we, by the end of the day we have 7 in place and yet still more maybe needed.

We figured out that our key light was spilling to much and found a way of controlling it and creating the directions we needed.

Whilst this was all going on, the lass from the theatre course downstairs turned up to help finish of the backdrop with Kamila. It has now improved.

The day was steadily busy and we were all feeling very VERY hungry, but all of us being really REALLY poor student we had no money for food, some of us even resorted to chewing on wood, :/ we all know who that was, haha, so we sent Denisa out on a new job to create a bit of cash, chimney sweeping in the local area.

And it looks like she has been enjoying it, we will send out again denisa!!!

One area of our set that we felt needed a far bit of work on and were a little worried about was the dolls in the foreground. After several hair cuts and styles we finally gave the doll a wig.

And as you can see at the time she was feeling rather upset.
Overall with some help we got a lot dealt with today and our lighting is looking good and however no doubt we will have more to do tomorrow

hey there you guys…
the 3rd day of set building went well tieing up the lose ends of the set, making the last few props and starting the lighting.

the mirror and the shells for the back lamps being made and prepared for the wall

after placeing the flooring down and with the chair also in place, denisa decided she wanted to play dress up. looking rather stylish!
it was all coming together well. . . (for the moment) so we started with the lighting. firstly by recreating the sun! with a big scarey light.

the set started to have some feeling however the light needed to be diffused.

once this was in place we found that the colours of our walls where to contrasty and the blue needed to be lighter, this was rather annoying, however we got it done by the end of the day.
we even had enough time to get a group shoot in.

going off to listen to a bit of Manu Katche with a cupa tea and guna chill.
speak soon.

The second building day came and surprisingly at the end of it we were more tired than we could’ve imagined.
However, we managed to do some important parts today:
-finished the window(the “glass” part)
-painted the strips on the walls;
-painted the wall that sticks outside in the background;
-painted the floor and some other retouches
-made the mirror frame and fixed the window on the wall
-did a preview mock-up for the elements we’re missing(from the studio-we already sourced them)
These being said I’ll let the pictures say the rest and promise to come back with a more cheerful and not so tired post

Mr. T’s room is coming together
See you tomorrow
